Beste VLAKKERS,
VLAK is een vereniging waar iedereen welkom is en discriminatie geen kansen krijgt. Om dit nog eens extra in de verf te zetten, stelden we een ‘Charter voor inclusie’ op samen met de 4 andere UZ-Kringen (Dentalia, Hilok, VBK en VGK). Hiermee willen wij een duidelijk signaal geven dat elke student op de campus en erbuiten er toe doet! Om dit alles wat concreter te maken, stelden we elk afzonderlijk een Beleidsnota op. Deze vertelt concreet hoe we het charter toepassen op onze vereniging zelf. Ons campagnefilmpje zal binnenkort ook in de jaargroepen verschijnen. Verder zal alles verspreid worden via onze verschillende kanalen (Facebook, Instagram, VLAKJE, auditoria …).
Voor ons telt élke student, en veranderen? Dat doen we samen!

Dear VLAKKERS,

VLAK is a sorority in which everyone is welcome and discriminations gets no chances. To emphasize this, we made a 'charter for inclusion' together with the four other UZ circles (Dentalia, Hilok, VBK and VGK). By doing this, we want to send a clear message that every student matters on and off campus. To make this all more concrete, we each also made a Policy Note. This tells us how exactly we will apply the charter to our sorority ourselves. Our campagne film will soon appear in the yeargroups too. The rest will be spread through social media (Facebook, Instagram, VLAKJES - the little book/links can be found on our homepage -, auditoria...).

Vingerspelling op het VLAK-schild
Op ons schild staat VLAK geschreven in vingerspelling en dat zouden we graag even willen toelichten. Het vingeralfabet is een verzameling gebaren waarmee de letters van het alfabet uitgebeeld worden.
Voor ons vormt dit alfabet een brug tussen enerzijds de richting logopedische wetenschappen en anderzijds de richting audiologische wetenschappen. Vingerspelling is een vorm van communicatie, wat in onze ogen het logopedische aspect voorstelt. Daarnaast zien wij het als een communicatiemiddel binnen de Dovengemeenschap, wat het audiologische aspect symboliseert.
Wij willen ten allen tijden duidelijk maken dat wij niet oneerbiedig tegenover eender wie willen zijn door het gebruik van het vingeralfabet op ons schild.

Finger spelling on the VLAK-shield
On our shield, VLAK is written in finger spelling and we would like to enlighten that. The finger alphabet/manual alphabet is a collection of hand signs with which the letters of the alphabet are portrayed.
For us, this alphabet forms a bridge between the major ‘sciences of speech-language pathology/therapy’ on one side and ‘audiologic sciences’ on the other. Finger spelling is a form of communication, which in our eyes represents the speech-language therapeutic aspect. Aside from that, we see it as a means of communication within the Deaf Community, which symbolises the audiological aspect.
We want to clarify at all times that we do not mean to be irreverent or disrespectful towards anyone by use of the finger alphabet on our shield.
